Dale Chihuly is an American artist who has mastered the qualities of ice, water, glass, and neon in his works of blown-glass art. He is globally renowned for his ambitious architectural installations, and he has returned to Atlanta with the Chihuly in the Garden exhibition to help mark the Atlanta Botanical Garden’s 40th anniversary.
Chihuly In the Garden
Chihuly in the Garden is an installation at the Atlanta Botanical Garden that includes 19 sites all set amid the Garden’s natural beauty. Chihuly’s glasswork was previously featured in the Garden in 2004 when the Garden was half the size it is now. Each piece of art is designed to be site specific, and many pieces are created uniquely for Atlanta. The art is bright and bold, and it pops against the Garden’s natural backdrop.
You can see Chihuly in a whole new light during Chihuly Nights Wednesday through Sunday nights from 6 to 10 pm. During the day, the pieces sparkle in the sunlight, but at night, the 19 sites are transformed and dramatically lit. For the complete experience, the Garden offers cash bars throughout the gardens and dinner at the Garden’s newest restaurant, Linton’s.
