Getting Lost in Uncle Shucks Corn Maze

Corn mazes are the perfect fall activity! If you’re looking for one of the best corn mazes near Atlanta, then I recommend visiting Uncle Shucks Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch in Dawsonville, Georgia.

Uncle Shucks is more than just a 15-acre corn maze and pumpkin patch. There’s so much fall fun like corn cannons, a haunted trail, a goat tower, and more.

Here’s everything you need to know about visiting Uncle Shucks Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch this year.

Uncle Shucks Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch

Fall is one of my favorite times in Atlanta, but you’ve got to get way out of the city to find a corn maze. Luckily, there are plenty to choose from.

We decided on Uncle Shucks Corn Maze because it seemed like the biggest and Dawsonville is only about an hour from where we live.

Corn Maze at Uncle Shucks

Uncle Shucks has a 15-acre Corn Maze, a Kiddy Maze, and a Haunted Trail.

Their main maze is more like a scavenger hunt than a traditional maze, where you find your way to checkpoints to mark off on your map to turn in for a prize. But it’s still easy to become corn-fused and get lost!

Each year, Uncle Shucks has a new maze to challenge you. This year’s maze has 6 miles of twisting and turning trails to keep you on your toes.

The maze has a series of checkpoints, and you can work individually or in teams to find all the checkpoints.

Dark Rows Haunted Corn Trail

The Dark Rows Haunted Corn Trail is completely separate from the regular Corn Maze.

Flashlights aren’t allowed in the haunted trail, and you’re guided only by the light of the moon. The ghouls appear at dusk, so get ready! Bonfires and wagon rides are also available at night.

The haunted trail is open on Friday and Saturday nights in October. The regular mazes are not haunted during these haunt nights in October, so you can enjoy them during regular hours without a scare.

Hayrides

Hay Ride at Uncle Shuck's Corn Maze, Dawsonville, Georgia

We made it out of the maze just as it started to rain, so we took shelter under the large picnic area tent. The rain only lasted for a few minutes, and once it stopped raining, everyone flocked to the hayride.

Since that was filled up, we waited for the next go, and had the hayride almost completely to ourselves.

They didn’t put much hay on the hayride, which was good because you weren’t sitting on a pokey bale of hay, but it also didn’t feel super authentic.

The tractor pulled us along the cornfield on one side and a stream on the other before going into the cornfield, which became a bumpy ride.

The ride then doubles back past the start point and goes through a grassy field out toward the bonfires before making another loop back to the start. In all, it lasted about 10 minutes.

Uncle Shucks Pumpkin Patch

The pumpkin patch at Uncle Shucks is a great place to pick a pumpkin! And the good news is, there’s no entry fee to visit the pumpkin patch.

So you can come by and pick out your perfect pumpkin even if you don’t have time to get lost in a maze. Pumpkins are priced by size.

Uncle Shucks also has a corn cannon that you shoot out at an old car, a tire mountain for kids to climb, and a goat walk where you can buy goat feed to entice the goats up a goat-playground.

They also have typical festival-type foods of hot dogs, hamburgers, boiled peanuts, and the like. At night, you can do the mazes, the haunted maze, the hayride, and head out to the bonfires to roast marshmallows.

After a few hours of getting lost in the corn, we were worn out and ready to get back home, but it was well worth it.
