Where to Eat in Americus
1. Sweet Georgia Bakery & Cafe
Cafe, Bakery
Sweet Georgia Bakery & Cafe is a cozy cafe that’s great for lunch.
They offer sandwiches, quick bites, coffee, bakery items, and desserts.
I recommend their Hot Turkey Sandwich (their best selling sandwich, and for good reason), their Pot Roast Sandwich, and a slice of their Cheesecake.

2. Pat’s Place
Pizza, Pub
Pat’s Place is a lively neighborhood pub that’s open daily for lunch and dinner.
Their menu has pizza, sandwiches, nachos, wings, and plenty of beer and alcohol.
I recommend the Italian sandwich, the Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza, or the Pat’s Supreme Pizza.

3. 1800 Mexican Restaurant
Mexican
1800 Mexican Restaurant is a classic Mexican spot for all of your south-of-the-border favorites.
Their menu features fajitas, burritos, margaritas, and other Mexican classics in a lively space with regular live music.
I recommend a Steak Burrito or the Gringo.

4. The Spot
Latin, Southern Fusion
The Spot fuses Southern and Latin dishes for a flavorful experience.
They have a bakery open daily, lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch. Their menu offers sandwiches, a mix of Southern and Latin dishes, and sharable tapas.
I recommend getting the Empanadas, Fried Calamari, and Spanish Meatballs from the tapas menu.

5. Floyd’s Pub
Pub Food, American
Floyd’s Pub is the restaurant on the second-floor balcony of the Windsor Hotel named for a former hotel employee (rumor is, Floyd still haunts the restaurant).
They’re open for dinner daily. Their menu features classic bar foods like burgers and wings, plus beer and craft cocktails.
I recommend the Rock & Roll Shrimp to start, the Buffalo Wings either as an appetizer or as a meal, and the Steak & Rice Queso Wrap. To drink, get the Elderflower Fizz.

6. Rosemary & Thyme
American, Breakfast
Rosemary & Thyme is the Victorian-inspired restaurant on the Windsor Hotel‘s second floor lobby.
They’re open for breakfast in the morning, brunch on the first Sunday of each month, and dinner nightly. Their menu features upscale American classic.
We ate here for breakfast while staying at the Windsor. I recommend the Windsor Breakfast and the Breakfast Croissan’wich.

7. Café Campesino Community Coffeehouse
Coffee, Breakfast
Get a taste of Georgia’s first and only 100% fair trade, organic specialty coffee at Café Campesino Community Coffeehouse.
They serves hot coffees and teas, iced and blended drinks, breakfast bakery items, and coffee by the pound.
I recommend getting an Americano, or the Jasmine tea for tea-lovers.

8. Scoops
Ice Cream, Dessert
Scoops is a classic ice cream shop with 32 different homemade flavors of ice cream. They also have packaged candy, candies by the pound, chocolates, and hand-dipped caramel apples and chocolate strawberries.
I recommend their Praline Pecan ice cream, Cheesecake ice cream, and chocolate covered strawberries.

9. Koinonia Farm
Southern, Home Cooking
Koinonia Farm is a community that focuses on hospitality, sustainable farming, and service to others. It’s the birthplace of Habitat for Humanity, a peanut and pecan farm, and a place for peace, rest, and renewal.
You can visit the farm for lunch at 12 p.m. Monday through Friday. You’ll be able to share a meal with members of the Koinonia community (they ask for at least 24 hour notice so they can make room for you at the table).
Their communal lunches are made up of healthy, farm-grown food. You won’t leave hungry!

Windsor Hotel
The Windsor Hotel is a historic 1892 hotel with 53 unique period-style rooms and suites. While each room is a different shape and size, they all come with a comfortable bed, a desk, a TV, a mini fridge, a microwave, and a coffee maker.
We enjoyed staying here. It was the perfect location in the middle of Downtown Americus, and it’s a unique historic stay that you can’t find anywhere else.
Oh, and did I mention it might be haunted? Enjoy your stay!
