12 Best Savannah Bars for an Unforgettable Night Out

When the sun goes down over the moss-draped streets of Savannah, the city knows how to have a good time. From frozen daiquiris on River Street to rooftop cocktails overlooking the Savannah River, these top Savannah bars are perfect for a fun night out.

I’ve had plenty of fun nights out in Savannah: romantic sunset drinks with Kevin on our honeymoon, mimosa brunches on a girls’ trip, and line dancing fun on a quick weekend trip with friends. Whether you’re looking for a laid-back wine tasting, a tropical tiki vibe, a cozy sports bar, or even a mechanical bull and live country music, Savannah’s bar scene truly has something for every kind of night out.

Here are my favorite bars in Savannah to add to your itinerary, with tips on what to drink and things to know before you go.

Two cocktails on a bar counter at Rocks on the Roof in Savannah, Georgia: a tall glass with a lime wedge, and a coupe glass with a yellow drink garnished with an orange slice.

Where to Drink in Savannah

1. Wet Willie’s

Row of brightly colored frozen drink machines lined up behind a counter at Wet Willie's in Savannah, Georgia, labeled with flavors like Strawberry, Mango, Sour Apple, Margarita, Monster Melon, and Kiwi. Clear plastic cups are stacked in front, and a mural with faces and large gears decorates the wall above.

Wet Willie’s is the quintessential Savannah watering hole. This popular bar serving a rainbow of frozen daiquiri drinks. You can mix and match flavors to make your own drink or famous drinks; I figured out I could make a mudslide, and then I was set!

Some of these drinks come with a very high alcohol content, so you can really have a big night out.

They have two Savannah locations: on River Street and at City Market. You’ll likely visit Wet Willie’s again and again on a visit to Savannah.

River Street: 101 E River St, Savannah, GA 31401

City Market: 20 Jefferson St, Savannah, GA 31401

2. Mint To Be Mojito Bar and Bites

Mint To Be Mojito Bar and Bites is my favorite Savannah bar because I can’t resist a mojito!

At this mojito-centric bar, they make their mojitos fresh every day with all natural ingredients. You can even mix their flavors to create your own mojito.

I recommend their Original Mojito or their Strawberry Mojito.

12 W State St, Savannah, GA 31401

3. Rocks on the Roof

Two cocktails sit on a rooftop patio table at dusk at Rocks on the Roof in Savannah, Georgia: a coupe glass with a pale yellow drink and a tall highball with ice and a lemon wedge. Red accent lighting lines the railing, and a river with a lit bridge and city lights stretches out under a darkening, cloudy sky.

Rocks on the Roof is my favorite rooftop bar in Savannah, located at the top of the Bohemian Hotel.

This rooftop bar is the perfect place to grab a drink and enjoy the views of the Savannah River from their outdoor patio. We spent a romantic evening here on our Savannah honeymoon, and it was such a beautiful night.

I recommend the Midnight in the Garden or the Savannah Sunset (perfect to go with an actual Savannah sunset!).

102 W Bay St, Savannah, GA 31401

4. Electric Moon Skytop Lounge

Electric Moon Skytop Lounge in Savannah, Georgia, a modern rooftop bar with high ceilings, exposed steel beams, and large floor-to-ceiling windows. Black cushioned booth seating with yellow stools sits in the foreground, while a busy bar area and open-air patio with people gathered outside are visible in the background.

Electric Moon Skytop Lounge is another great rooftop bar, located on top of the JW Marriott Hotel.

They have great views over the Savannah, unique cocktails, and even a playground with a slide and lawn games (the venue is all-ages during weekdays and 21+ after 6 p.m. on weekdays and all day Friday and Saturday).

We came here on our girls’ weekend in Savannah, and it was such a fun vibe for the girls’ trip. I recommend the Basil Afterglow or the Black Out.

500 W River St, Savannah, GA 31401

5. B. Matthew’s Eatery

B. Matthew’s Eatery is one of my favorite Savannah restaurants, perfect for brunch or dinner, and with great cocktails for both. It’s definitely worth the wait if you find it crowded at brunch time.

The restaurant is in a beautiful vintage space with exposed-brick walls in the heart of Historic Downtown.

I recommend the Mimosa (get it by the pitcher to share with friends) or the Peachtree Street.

325 E Bay St, Savannah, GA 31401

6. Savannah Smiles Dueling Piano Bar

Dueling pianos performing on a small stage inside a dimly lit bar with red neon lighting and a disco ball overhead at Savannah Smiles Dueling Piano Bar in Savannah, Georgia. Audience members sit and stand around tables in the foreground, while American flags and chalkboard signs hang behind the musicians.

Savannah Smiles Dueling Piano Bar is a fun late-night piano bar where they play songs picked by the audience.

They can play literally anything — rock n roll, country, rap, heavy metal, 60s, current hits, you name it!

The drinks are standard (beer, wine, seltzers, mixed drinks), but the atmosphere is fun and boisterous.

314 Williamson St, Savannah, GA 31401

7. The Bamboo Room Tiki Bar

The Bamboo Room Tiki Bar is a fun rooftop bar over Sorry Charlie’s Oyster Bar. This tropical hideaway overlooks Ellis Square and serves island-inspired cocktails, snacks, and frozen drinks.

I recommend the Lowcountry Luau or the Pickering’s Shrunken Skull. Or go for a communal drink that you and your party can share, like the Boo Loo or the Volcano Bowl.

116 W Congress St, Savannah, GA 31401

8. The Georgia Tasting Room

Overhead view of a wine tasting setup on a wooden table at The Georgia Tasting Room in Savannah. A printed tasting menu with categories and handwritten notes sits on the left. On the right, six small plastic cups of wine—ranging from pale white to rosé and deep red—are arranged in two rows on a tasting tray.

The Georgia Tasting Room is a cute little wine shop at City Market. They sell traditional, seasonal, and local wines, plus beer, moonshine, mead, wine slushies, and moonshine slushies.

You can grab a drink to-go, or you can do a wine tasting. I highly recommend doing a tasting; you get to choose choose six different wines from a long list of regional wines.

Their tasting space is limited, but they do take both walk-ins and reservations.

306 W Saint Julian Street, Savannah, GA 31401

9. Collins Quarter at Forsyth

Tall flute glass filled with a deep red sparkling cocktail, garnished with dark berries, sitting on a weathered wooden patio table at Collins Quarter at Forsyth in Savannah, Georgia. Outdoor café seating and people are softly blurred in the background, suggesting a relaxed al fresco setting.

Collins Quarter at Forsyth is an extremely popular weekend brunch spot in Forsyth Park, with a relaxing patio with park views.

As any good brunch place should, they have a variety of Mimosas (from classic orange juice to lavender and lemon to house-made apple cider). They also have a menu of fun original cocktails.

I recommend the Strawberry Fields Mimosa or the Call to Arms.

621 Drayton St, Savannah, GA 31401

10. Top Deck

Two tall glasses filled with orange and pink cocktails sit on a small outdoor table at night at Top Deck in Savannah, Georgia. One drink is topped with foam and a lemon twist, the other with a citrus wedge and cocktail pick. Red ambient lighting glows across the table and railing, while a softly blurred, illuminated bridge and city lights shimmer in the background.

Top Deck is a rooftop bar atop the Cotton Sail Hotel, overlooking the Savannah River. This is a super romantic spot for some breathtaking sunsets.

They have a menu of craft cocktails, beer, and wine. I recommend the Top Deck Mojito or the Midnight Sail.

125 W River St, Savannah, GA 31401

11. PS Tavern

PS Tavern is a no-frills, local-feeling sports bar with plenty of TVs to watch the game. They frequently host Green Bay Packer, college sports, and US Soccer watch parties.

Tucked just off Bay Street, this cozy little neighborhood sports bar is not flashy or trendy, but it’s perfect for sports fans visiting Savannah.

They have daily drink specials, plenty of beer on tap, and some great cocktails. I recommend the Savannah Peach Lemonade or The Hemmingway.

11 W Bay St, Savannah, GA 31401

12. Saddle Bags

Saddle Bags is a fun country bar where you can listen to famous Nashville recording artists live, ride a mechanical bull, learn line dancing, and have a great night out.

Located on River Street, this high-energy country bar feels more like a Nashville honky-tonk. This is the place you go when you want to dance, laugh, and make questionable decisions (usually on the back of that mechanical bull).

There is a cover charge, and the drinks basic but affordable — think beer, canned cocktails, and simple mixed drinks.

Savannah Bars FAQ

What is the most famous bar in Savannah?

One of the most famous Savannah bars is Wet Willie’s, especially the River Street location. It’s known for its colorful frozen daiquiris and party atmosphere, and it’s often the first stop for visitors exploring downtown Savannah.

Are Savannah bars open late?

Yes — many bars in Savannah stay open until 2:00 a.m., especially on weekends. Rooftop bars and cocktail lounges may close earlier (around midnight), while places like Savannah Smiles or Saddle Bags tend to stay lively until closing time. If you’re planning a big night out, it’s smart to start at a rooftop for sunset drinks and then move to a late-night bar afterward.

Always double-check hours if you’re visiting midweek, as some bars in Savannah close earlier Monday–Wednesday.

Can you walk around with drinks in Savannah?

Yes! One of the most fun things about Savannah bars is that the Historic District allows open containers. You can legally carry alcoholic drinks outside in plastic cups within the designated Historic District boundaries. This makes bar hopping along River Street and City Market especially fun — you can grab a frozen drink at Wet Willie’s and stroll along the riverfront.

Just remember:
– Drinks must be in plastic cups (no glass).
– You must stay within the Historic District.

It’s one of the reasons Savannah nightlife feels so relaxed and festive.

What area has the best nightlife in Savannah?

The best nightlife in Savannah is concentrated in three main areas:

River Street — Best for tourists, frozen drinks, and waterfront views.
City Market — Great for live music, casual bars, and easy bar hopping.
Historic Downtown (around Congress Street & Bay Street) — A mix of rooftop bars, sports bars, piano bars, and late-night spots.

If you’re planning a girls’ weekend or bachelorette party, stick close to River Street and Congress Street. For a more romantic evening, rooftop bars near Bay Street are ideal.
