1. Stay at a romantic Bed & Breakfast

You want more than just a place to sleep on your romantic Savannah getaway. Luckily, there are tons of romantic bed & breakfasts in the Historic District that are intimate, personal, and the perfect luxury stay.

2. Take a scenic Helicopter Ride

This scenic helicopter ride over nearby Hilton Head offers incredible views of the entire island. You’ll be able to see Hilton Head, Daufuskie, Tybee Island, and downtown Savannah by air. You can even see dolphins, manta rays, and other fun marine life on this tour!

They have 3 tour length options, but I recommend booking the longer tour to make the most of it — it’s worth every second, and seeing dolphins from the sky feels like a once-in-a-lifetime moment!

3. Take a Dinner Cruise

Take a dinner date to a whole new level with this sunset riverboat dinner cruise. You’ll climb aboard a traditional Savannah riverboat for a scenic float along the Savannah River along with a buffet dinner.

The riverboat has a glass-enclosed climate-controlled dining and observation deck for panoramic views no matter what the weather. There are also open-air seats on the upper deck for when the weather is nice. I love being able to watch the sunset from the upper deck while sipping sweet tea and listening to live music; it make for the perfect slow Southern night.

For dinner, you’ll be served classic Southern dishes like shrimp & grits, catch of the day, Southern fried chicken, and macaroni and cheese.

4. Learn together at a Cocktail Class

Taking a cocktail class together is such a fun experience! We did something similar in Charleston as well, and now I want to do cocktail classes wherever I go.

This Cocktail Class in Congress Street Up is a hands-on experience at the 1920s-style speakeasy bar in the American Prohibition Museum. It’s a fun class where you get to make Prohibition-era cocktails while you listen to stories of Savannah’s Prohibition history.

The class includes tasting 3 cocktail samples and making 2 full-sized cocktails.

7. Picnic at Bonaventure Cemetery

Did you know the Victorians used to picnic in Bonaventure Cemetery? They would picnic on their family members’ graves, and some even had gravestones shaped like large family dining tables, so that they could continue spending time with them after their death.

Bonaventure was designed like a garden with curving pathways, plenty of trees, and grassy areas. So as long as you’re good with a more Gothic vibe picnic, this is a beautiful setting. It feels peaceful and quiet, not creepy, here and it’s a surprisingly lovely picnic spot.

There are picnic tables overlooking the water on the far end of the cemetery that make the perfect spot for a date. You can pair your picnic with a guided walking tour or a guided golf cart tour (this one is my pick in the summer heat) for a little history with your date.

9. See a show at the Historic Savannah Theatre

The Historic Savannah Theatre on Chippewa Square is a great upgrade to a classic theatre date. As one of the oldest continually operating theaters in the US, it’s like stepping into a bygone era.

The theatre hosts everything from live concerts and comedy shows to musicals and tribute performances.

My favorite part about this date is getting a little dressed up and having something that feels like a real date, rather than just a regular dinner.

10. Enjoy the sunrise at Tybee Island

Tybee Island is just a 30 minute drive from Savannah and it has some of the best beach sunrises.

Wake up early and drive to the island or rent a cute little beach condo (my recommendation) so that you can watch the sunrise together. Then spend the morning walking on the beach, enjoying the waves, and exploring Tybee Island’s local museums and restaurants.

11. Have an intimate dinner at Alligator Soul

Alligator Soul is one of Savannah’s best restaurants. It’s very fancy and located in an old basement grain warehouse (ooh speakeasy vibes!), so it’s perfect for a romantic date night when you want to go all-out.

We planned our whole evening around this dinner, and it totally delivered. I recommend the Mushroom Salad, the Crispy Alligator, and their Wild Game Specialty.

Be sure to make a reservation in advance; this isn’t a spur-of-the-moment dinner date, it will require some planning ahead.

12. Go for Rooftop Cocktails

After dinner, enjoy a rooftop nightcap with stunning nighttime views of Savannah. There are a ton of great rooftop bars all around the city.

I love grabbing drinks at Rocks on the Roof and Electric Moon and watching the riverboats go by. And the Bamboo Room is great for people-watching with a Frosé in hand.

13. Walk the trails at Wormsloe Historic Site

Wormsloe State Historic Site has a breathtaking avenue of live oaks draped in Spanish Moss. This is one of the most photographed spots in Savannah.

After driving down the oak-lined lane, you can explore the ruins of a tabby house owned by one of Georgia’s oldest settlers and walk the seven miles of scenic nature trails.

This is a picturesque spot that has forests, marshlands, and picnic areas.

14. Do a wine tasting at Georgia Tasting Room

The Georgia Tasting Room at City Market is a cute little wine shop where you can have a wine-tasting date (plus they have local beer, moonshine, mead, wine slushies, and moonshine slushies, so you have a variety to try!).

You could also just shop for a bottle to take home. But I do recommend doing the tasting where you get to try 6 different sips from a long list (each of you could choose a different 6, and then y’all can try each other’s).

15. Do a mead tasting at Savannah Bee Company

Savannah Bee Company‘s River Street location is more than just a boutique honey shop — they also have a mead bar!

Mead is a honey wine, and it’s part of the origin of the “honeymoon” (so a mead tasting is the perfect activity if you’re honeymooning in Savannah!).

Their tasting has a set option of 6 meads ranging from dry to sweet. If you’ve never had mead before, it’s a great introduction to the drink.

16. Stroll through Forsyth Park

Forsyth Park is Savannah’s iconic 30-acre park, known for its beautiful French-inspired fountain.

If you’re looking for a low-key date spot, try hitting up the Forsyth Farmers’ Market every Saturday morning where you can stroll hand-in-hand and shop fresh produce, meats, local honey, coffee, pralines, and other delicious food items from local sellers.

This is also a great spot for a picnic in the park or a romantic photoshoot.
