Turquoise Place Review

Turquoise Place is a Spectrum Resorts property located right on the beach in beautiful Orange Beach, Alabama.

The property is named for its soaring turquoise glass-encased towers. The two towers have 24 and 30 stories.

These beachfront condos offer a luxury stay like no other, direct access to the soft white sands of the beach, and puts you within reach of the best things to do in Orange Beach.

Here’s everything you need to know about staying at Turquoise Place.

The Condos

Turquoise Place has luxury 3-bedroom and 4-bedroom condos, plus a 5-bedroom penthouse with an additional in-law suite. Units range from 2,300 to 5,000+ square feet, so you don’t have to worry about your family getting all up in your space on your family vacation!

I stayed in one of the 3-bedroom condos on the 20th floor, and there was plenty of space. There is some variation in furnishings for each unit, but I’ll give you an idea of what to expect from the unit I stayed in.

You’ll enter the unit into a hallway with a bedroom with a king-sized bed and a bathroom with a shower on one side, and a bedroom with two full-sized beds and a bathroom with a sizeable tub/shower combination on the other side. Further down the hallway is a half-bath and a laundry room.

The hallway opens up into the open floorplan kitchen and living room. The U-shaped kitchen has a huge fridge, an oven and stove, a microwave, and a nice long bar opening up into the dining room and living room. There’s also a wet bar along the wall with an ice maker and wine cooler. The dining room has a table big enough for the whole family.

The living room has a plush L-shaped couch and beautiful beachy decor. There’s a gas fireplace, a flat screen TV, and extra arm chairs. The balcony opens off the living room.

The primary bedroom opens off the kitchen/dining area beside the wet bar. This huge room has a king-sized bed, a desk, and arm chairs. The primary bathroom is equally large, with a shower, a two-person tub, a large vanity, and a large walk-in closet. The balcony opens off the primary bedroom.

The balcony stretches the width of the unit. On the living room side is a gas grill. A U-shaped outdoor patio set takes up the middle of the balcony. And on the bedroom end is the private hot tub that can fit 6 people (it does get quite full, but yes, we fit 6 people in it!).

The private hot tub is one of my favorite parts. I also enjoyed how spacious the unit was. And it was nice to finally have a tub that can fit my long legs (I stayed in the primary bedroom, so I had the 2 person tub all to myself)!

Tip: You can book direct or through sites like VRBO. You’ll get the most benefits when you book direct, but during the busy season, you may need to look for a unit that suits your needs on VRBO.

The Amenities

The amenities at Turquoise Place are unmatched!

Each tower has an indoor pool, a sauna and steam room, a fitness room, and hot tubs. You’ll find the 450-foot lazy river and the playground in West Tower D. An outdoor pool sits between the two towers.

There are cabanas facing the beach at East Tower C, as well as the tennis court / pickleball court. Opening soon are the new 300-foot waterslide, splash pad, outdoor pool, and putting green at Tower C and the new Amenities Deck.

The resort also offers kids activities, games, daily activities for all ages, beach chair rentals, and direct access to the beach.

When you book direct with Turquoise Place, you also get additional amenities like a concierge package that can stock your pantry for you, Spectrum Club Lounge access with complimentary breakfast, complimentary beach towels, mid-stay cleans, grocery deliveries, and discounts on the cabanas and gift shop.

The Restaurants and Bars

Sure, you have a fully equipped kitchen in your condo, but you’re on vacation and you don’t want to cook every night! So it’s nice to know that Turquoise Place has some restaurant options on-site.

Change of Pace is the resort’s pool-side dining. You can get Gulf Coast fare and a tropical drink to enjoy by the pool. They also serve breakfast.

Spectrum Club Lounge is the exclusive lounge for those that book direct. Here, you’ll find complimentary breakfast alongside fun and games.

The Penthouse

While I was here, I got to check out the luxury 5-bedroom penthouse and its detached in-law suite. If you’re traveling with a big group, you’ll want to have at look at this!

I got to see a corner penthouse on the 30th floor. This unit is 5,682 square feet, has 5 bedrooms, an in-law suite, 5.5 bathrooms, and sleeps 16 people.

The entry hallway is essentially U-shaped. On one side, you’ll find a bedroom with a king-sized bed and an attached bathroom, and on the other is a bedroom with a queen-sized bed and an attached bathroom.

In the middle is a room with two bunk beds, both with twins on top and fulls on bottom. On either side is a laundry room and a half-bathroom.

The hallway opens up to the huge kitchen and living area. The kitchen has the biggest fridge I’ve ever seen, a large pantry, an island, and a curved bar. In front of the kitchen on one side is a large dining room table. On the other side is the living room with two couches and plenty of arm chairs, plus a gas fireplace, flat screen TV, and shelving. The living room opens up to the balcony.

On one side of the living room is one primary bedroom with a king-sized bed, an attached bathroom with a shower and a two-person tub, and large walk-in closet. On the other side of the living room is the other primary bedroom with a king-sized bed, an attached bathroom with a shower and circular tub that fills from the ceiling, and a walk-in closet.

Both primary bedrooms open to the balcony. The balcony wraps around on the corner unit. There’s a private hot tub, a gas grill, a dining area, a large seating area, and extra chaise loungers.

Detached from the unit, across the hall, is the in-law suite. This bedroom has a queen-sized bed, a sitting area, and an attached bathroom. This room has a view inland of Cotton Bayou.

What I didn’t love

While I had a great stay at Turquoise Place, there were a few drawbacks I wanted to mention.

The resort’s layout can be a little confusing. I recommend making good use of the resort map. I was also visiting during the off-season while the resort was undergoing some renovation, so some areas were closed off, which added to the confusion.

Those tiled floors get slippery! Put down a towel to step on before you get out of the hot tub, shower, or bathtub.

I always mention in my reviews the level of light in the bedroom at night because I’m very sensitive to light when I’m trying to sleep. The curtains were really nice and thick, so there really wasn’t any light coming from outside. But there were a lot of electronics throughout the room that gave off an unnecessary amount of light. So I did have to use my eye mask in order to sleep here.

My Experience at Turquoise Place

Overall, I had a wonderful stay at Turquoise Place!

I loved having direct access to the beach, and the hot tub on the balcony was definitely a highlight. The water slide and splash pad that are part of their new amenities deck are amazing!

Plus, the sunsets from this resort are absolutely incredible!

Who Should Stay at Turquoise Place

The Turquoise Place is great for anyone with a large family or traveling with a group. You can all have your own space and not feel like you’re on top of each other.

This is definitely a good stay for a longer trip to the beach, probably 4 days or more so you can get the most of all the amenities. You’ll have a full kitchen and a laundry room so you can make the most of a longer stay.

This probably isn’t the right stay for couples who are only staying for a couple nights.
