8 Best Places to Eat in Pigeon Forge, TN for First-Timers

There are a lot of places to eat in Pigeon Forge, which is great once you know where to go and a little overwhelming when you don’t. Between classic Southern breakfasts, dinner shows, and unique spots, there are plenty of restaurants here that are worth making time for.

I tried a mix of restaurants, dessert spots, and big-name Pigeon Forge experiences while I was in town and found some really fun first-timer picks. There are big Pigeon Forge classics like Dolly Parton’s Stampede and Dollywood, but also breakfast spots, pizza, and dessert places that are worth adding to your itinerary.

If you’re wondering where to eat in Pigeon Forge on your first visit, these are the places I recommend starting with.

A special thanks to the Pigeon Forge Department of Tourism for hosting my trip! As always, all opinions are my own.

Club sandwich cut into triangles and stacked beside a fresh spinach salad topped with strawberries, orange slices, crumbled white cheese, and sliced almonds, with a cup of red dressing on the side from The Old Mill Pottery House Cafe in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The mix of deli meat, crisp greens, and fruit makes the plate feel like a light but filling lunch.

Where to Eat in Pigeon Forge

1. Sawyer’s Farmhouse

Breakfast, Lunch

Sawyer’s Farmhouse is a breakfast and lunch restaurant with two locations in Pigeon Forge. It’s the go-to spot for a classic Southern breakfast that will keep you fueled for a day of exploring Pigeon Forge.

They have sweet: pancakes, French toast, waffles, and crepes. And they have savory: breakfast platters, omelettes, burritos, and lunch sandwiches. I recommend the Spiced Apple & Cream Crepes. Be sure to check their specials too, because they had a really interesting fried chicken sandwich with hot honey served on a donut bun!

2. The Old Mill Pottery House Café

Southern, Sandwiches

The Old Mill Pottery House Café serves classic Southern comfort food and homemade baked goods from grain ground at the mill next door.

The restaurant is set in the old home of Douglas Ferguson, and acclaimed American pottery who started his pottery studio here in Pigeon Forge in 1946.

On the menu, you’ll find sandwiches, soups, quiche, burgers, salads, Southern favorites, and homemade desserts. I had the Chicken Caesar Salad, but the Classic Chicken Club is also a good choice. If you like coconut, you can’t go wrong with their Coconut Cream Pie for dessert.

3. West by God CoalFired Pizza

Pizza, Craft Beer

West by God CoalFired Pizza is the only coal-fired pizza spot in Pigeon Forge. They make “Black Diamond Pies” inspired by New Haven style “apizza” with a distinct charred look. They also have axe-throwing and a 24-tap self-serve craft beer wall for a really good time.

I recommend the Fresh Friend Pork Rinds to start. For pizzas, go for The Pizza Party (a classic pepperoni), The Pistachio Pesto (sausage with pesto sauce), and The Rock Lake (bacon, pineapple, and bacon jam).

4. Frizzle Chicken Cafe

Breakfast, Southern

Frizzle Chicken Cafe is a family-friendly breakfast and lunch spot with 100+ singing animatronic chickens.

The chickens are all named after celebrities, with chicken puns of course: HENifer Lopez, Willie NelsHEN, and MiLAY FRYus, for example. There’s a performance every 15 minutes — the chickens will sing every half hour, and there’s a smaller display of non-chicken animatronics in between.

The menu has simple Southern breakfast and lunch. I recommend the Avocado Toast. If you’re a pancake-lover, their stack of Cinnamon Roll Pancakes is huge! And The Whole Breakfast is a great option if you’re really hungry.

5. Dolly Parton’s Stampede

Dinner Show

Dolly Parton’s Stampede is the classic dinner show in Pigeon Forge. You’ll watch horseback riding, acrobatics, music, and big arena-style entertainment while eating a full Southern meal. There are a lot of dinner shows in Pigeon Forge, but if you only have time for one, this is the one I’d choose.

The meal is a 4-course dinner with creamy vegetable soup, a homemade biscuit, a whole rotisserie chicken, pulled pork, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, and dessert. I went with the apple turnover for dessert. Unlimited Coca-Cola products, tea, and lemonade are included, and you can purchase alcohol separately.

6. Sunliner Diner

Diner, American, Breakfast

The Sunliner Diner is a fun step back in time with a full 1950s theme, retro decor, and classic diner atmosphere. I’ve visited their original location in Gulf Shores, AL and absolutely loved it.

The menu has classic diner food, all-day breakfast, and hand-spun milkshakes. I had the Avocado Toast, but the Chocolate Chip Pancakes and Chicken & Waffle Benedict looked delicious as well. And yes, a milkshake for breakfast is completely acceptable here!

7. Titanic Ice Cream

Ice Cream, Dessert

Bright ice cream shop with white café tables and gold trimmed chairs centers around an oversized three scoop ice cream cone display topped with strawberries and blueberries at Titanic Ice Cream in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The mural of a ship captain, flying seagulls, and signs for "Titanic Ice Cream" make the space feel whimsical and themed to the museum experience.

Titanic Ice Cream is an ice cream shop attached to the Titanic Museum Attraction. It’s the perfect place for a sweet treat after touring the museum.

They have specialty ice cream creations, sundaes, Frappuccino, Italian ice, malts, and milkshakes, or you can build your own ice cream cup or cone. I recommend the Heart of the Ocean Blend with ice cream, butterscotch, cinnamon toast crunch, and blue heart sprinkles.

8. Dollywood

Theme Park and Carnival Food

Dollywood is Pigeon Forge’s iconic theme park owned by country singer Dolly Parton, and it’s known for having some of the best theme park food in the country. A trip to Dollywood is an all-day affair, so it’s a good thing they have such good food.

I visited for their annual spring Flower & Food Festival, which is a great time to try out their delicious eateries. I got the Tasting Pass for the festival, which gave me 5 special festival treats at different locations throughout the park.

Here are my favorite dining options at Dollywood:

  • The Grist Mill — This is where you’ll find the world-famous cinnamon bread, made fresh daily. I, of course, got a loaf to bring home.
  • Market Square BIG SKILLET — This eatery serves dishes crafted in a giant skillet, hence the name. I had the Honey Garlic Chicken Skillet and the Sunflower Lemonade.
  • Trailhead Eats — This is where you can get quick-serve versions of the homestyle dishes served at the Wilderness Pass Restaurant. I had the Pesto Caprese Sandwich and the Mango Tea.
  • Potato Tornado — This eatery specializes in a spiral-cut potato served on a skewer, and other potato-based foods. I had the Loaded Fried Potato Wedges.
