The Hotel Zugspitze is an upscale hotel in the Bavarian mountain resort town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Check out my review of our stay at the Hotel Zugspitze.

Hotel Zugspitze is nestled in the heart of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, a popular Bavarian mountain town and ski paradise.

This upscale hotel offers traditional Alpine comfort, mountain views, and amenities like a Michelin-rated restaurant and an extensive wellness spa.

Hotel Zugspitze Review

For our Christmas ski vacation to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, my family and I found this beautiful stay to complete our Bavarian escape.

Here’s everything you need to know about staying at the Hotel Zugspitze.

The Guest Room

The hotel has 48 guest rooms and suites. All the rooms are furnished in a traditional Alpine style with lots of natural wood elements. Each room has Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs. Upgraded rooms come with balconies and dining areas. Suites come with a separate living area with sofas, fireplaces, and kitchenettes.

We stayed in one of their Comfort rooms located on the 2nd floor with a balcony and a view of the Wetterstein Mountains. Our room had a double bed, a sofa and table, a desk, and an armoire with a small fridge and coffee machine.

The en-suite bathroom had a shower-bathtub combination and a separate water closet.

The rooms come with radiators, but there is no air conditioning.

One of the hotel’s best amenities is the wellness area. This features a large indoor pool and whirlpool, single and couples loungers, a tea station, and a sauna with a steam sauna, sanarium, Finnish sauna, plunge pool, and sauna terrace.

The fitness room is equipped with bikes, steppers, a rowing machine, and dumbbells. Guests can also participate in a Taiji course or a Zen Meditation yoga lesson.

Hotel Zugspitze’s MareVital spa offers cosmetic, wellness, and health treatments at an additional cost. Indulge in a massage, facial, manicure, pedicure, body peel, and more.

Joseph Naus Stub’n

Joseph Naus Stub’n is the Michelin-rated restaurant (along with the Zugspitz Stad’l) inside the Hotel Zugspitze.

Named after the first climber to reach the top of the Zugspitze, Joseph Naus Stub’n earned its Bib Gourmand rating for its delicious food, friendly staff, comfortable rustic-style restaurant, and fair prices (the Bib Gourmand rating recognizes friendly establishments that serve good food at moderate prices).

Chef Georg Strohmeyer creates dishes using regional ingredients: vegetables from the “Garden of Eden” in Ohlstadt, meat from the butchery Gerold in Oberammergau, and freshwater fish from the Upper Bavarian and Tyrolean lakes.

Benefits of Staying at the Hotel Zugspitze

The Hotel Zugspitze is right in the heart of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. It’s a short walk from the train station and the Zugspitzbahn that gives you access to the ski slopes and the peak of Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany.

The hotel is the perfect stay for a getaway to in the Bavarian Alps. Its a cozy respite after a day of exploring the countryside.

I also loved having the indoor pool and sauna experience in the winter.
