9 Memorable Things to Do in Senoia, Georgia

You’ve probably seen Senoia, Georgia on your TV screen, but there’s a lot more to do here than just hunt down filming locations. This small town south of Atlanta is worth a visit for its walkable downtown, local shops, and interesting history, too.

I spent time exploring Senoia and found plenty to do beyond the expected filming locations (though you should definitely see those as well). There’s a cozy historic inn, a cute local bookstore, good coffee, small-town shopping, a farmers’ market, and enough history to keep you busy for more than just a quick walk around downtown.

Senoia is easy to visit as a day trip or a weekend getaway from Atlanta. If you’re building your itinerary, here are my favorite things to do in Senoia.

Special thanks to Explore Newnan-Coweta for hosting my trip! As always, all opinions are my own.

Best Things to Do in Senoia

1. Take a Guided Tour of The Walking Dead Filming Locations

Stair landing in a Walking Dead themed exhibit at The Woodbury Shoppe in Senoia, Georgia with walls covered in signatures, a cutout of a character beside a roaring tiger, and multiple warning style signs above the railing. The chained door painted with "DON'T DEAD OPEN INSIDE" and the prison style details make the display feel like an immersive fan attraction.

Senoia is best known for being a filming location for The Walking Dead, and a guided tour is the best way to see more of the town’s filming spots without having to piece everything together yourself.

This 2-hour Senoia The Walking Dead filming locations walking tour takes you through town with a guide (a cosplayer named Senoia Rick) who can point out filming locations and share the stories behind them.

It’s a great choice if The Walking Dead is one of your main reasons for visiting Senoia! It gives you a full fan experience while letting you explore Downtown Senoia on foot, and it’s way easier than trying to figure out every stop on your own.

2. Find The Walking Dead Filming Locations for Free

The Walking Dead Filming Location at the Senoia Farmer's Market in Senoia, Georgia featuring a tall corrugated metal wall painted blue and white with rust streaks, featuring a large sign that reads "OUTPOST 22 COMMONWEALTH" at the center. The sharp angle of the two walls and the bright blue sky above give the industrial facade a bold, graphic look.

If you want a budget-friendly option, you can also take a free self-guided walking tour of The Walking Dead filming locations in Senoia. This is a good pick if you’re only a casual fan, short on time, or want to explore at your own pace.

This is my favorite free self-guided walking tour that includes several stops that are close together in Downtown Senoia.

Even if you’re not a huge fan of The Walking Dead, this is still a fun way to explore Senoia. The filming history is a big part of what put the town on the map for visitors, and it’s part of why Senoia feels like such a pristine storybook town.

3. Take a Historic Walking Tour of Senoia

Symmetrical white house in Downtown Senoia, Georgia with steep gabled rooflines and a wide wraparound porch sits behind a neatly kept lawn and sidewalk under a bright blue sky. Tall trees frame the house on both sides, giving the crisp facade a classic Southern home feel.

Senoia’s filming history gets a lot of attention, but the town has plenty of history beyond the big screen. The Senoia Area Historical Society offers a self-guided audio walking tour that covers the town’s early history, architecture, film connections, and local stories.

The tour takes about 60 to 90 minutes, depending on your pace, and includes homes and buildings tied to Senoia’s past. You’ll hear about the Creek Indians connected to the town’s name, early settlers from South Carolina, historic homes, Civil War-era stories, and streets that later became filming locations.

It’s fully self-paced, so I recommend building this into your day as you explore the shops and restaurants in Downtown Senoia.

4. Spend the Night at The Veranda Historic Inn

The Veranda Historic Inn in Senoia, Georgia, a large white historic house with a wide wraparound porch, tall columns, and red double front doors standing at the end of a stone walkway lined with potted plants. Rocking chairs on the porch and mature trees framing the house give the grand facade a welcoming bed and breakfast feel.

The Veranda Historic Inn is a 1906 Greek Revival mansion B&B that fits right into Senoia’s storybook setting, with original details like pine floors, iron fireplaces, and a wraparound porch that’s as Southern as it gets. The inn also has a cozy upstairs library nook with hundreds of books you can borrow during your stay — it’s the perfect place to stay for readers visiting Coweta County!

This is also the only hotel in Senoia.

I stayed in the Magnolia Room, a second-floor bedroom just off the library nook that overlooks the side gardens. The king-sized bed was comfortable, the bathroom was small but modern, and the partially stained-glass window let in plenty of light.

The Veranda Inn is a great place to curl up with a good book. It even hosted Margaret Mitchell when she was researching Gone With the Wind, and one of the 10 guest rooms is named in her honor.

If you’re staying over the weekend, breakfast is included on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Expect a classic Southern breakfast with eggs, biscuits, meats, and other traditional dishes to fuel you for a day of exploring Senoia.

5. Visit The Woodbury Shoppe for The Walking Dead Souvenirs

White double doors painted with the words "DON'T DEAD OPEN INSIDE" stand beneath a TV screen showing a close up from The Walking Dead, while signatures cover the surrounding wall. Display cases and merchandise racks on either side make the space feel like a themed museum or fan exhibit at The Woodbury Shoppe in Senoia, Georgia.

The Woodbury Shoppe is the official store for The Walking Dead merch, officially licenses products, and exclusive items that are only available here in Senoia.

The shop also has a museum in the basement that displays iconic props and set pieces from the show.

This is a must-stop for fans of the show after your Walking Dead tour.

6. Shop Local at the Senoia Farmers’ Market

Covered outdoor market walkway with vendor tables on both sides at the Senoia Farmer's Market in Senoia, Georgia, where shoppers browse handmade goods and graphic T shirts beneath string lights and stretched shade canopies. The narrow aisle, wooden stalls, and clusters of people give the market a lively, casual feel.

If you’re visiting on a Saturday, stop by the Senoia Farmers’ Market. The market runs from April through December and has a mix of fresh produce, homemade goods, artisan products, and local makers selling their work.

There are also rotating food vendors, so this can be a good breakfast or lunch spot while you’re in town. You’ll find vendors like Nic & Norman’s Bar and Breakfast, Authentic Syrian Cuisine, Serrano Fine Tacos, Pinchos, Factory, and others depending on the weekend.

I highly recommend grabbing a donut from Finkles Bake Shop while you’re there. The line can be long, but it’s well worth the wait because their donuts and baked goods are delicious!

7. Browse the Shelves at Book Love

Bright bookstore with white shelves of colorful books lining both walls and a central display table. An open book decorated with pink flowers and a turquoise typewriter sit on the front table beneath hanging paper garlands and round lights at Book Love the bookshop of Senoia in Senoia, Georgia.

Book Love is a small indie bookstore in Downtown Senoia with books, gifts, and a tea and coffee bar. It’s a great place to stop if you want a quieter break from sightseeing while still staying right in town.

The shop stocks more than a thousand titles, so you can browse for your next read, pick up a gift, or grab something from the café.

Their café serves coffee, tea, and desserts. It’s the perfect shop for an easy afternoon in Senoia.

8. Grab Coffee at Senoia Coffee

Iced green latte in a clear plastic cup sits on a dark cafe counter, with the drink fading from creamy white at the bottom to pale matcha green at the top from Senoia Coffee in Senoia, Georgia. Sugar shakers, black stirrers, and an espresso machine blur behind it, placing the drink in a busy coffee shop setting.

For coffee, breakfast, or a light lunch in Downtown Senoia, head to Senoia Coffee. This cozy cafe sits right in the heart of town, so it’s easy to work into your day before browsing the shops or walking between filming locations.

Their menu goes beyond coffee, with tea drinks, in-house pastries, avocado toast, waffles, breakfast sandwiches, and other brunch and lunch options.

I recommend the Matcha Latte with lavender syrup. It has a light floral flavor and makes a great drink to carry with you while you shop downtown.

9. Wander Through Downtown Senoia

Sunlit sidewalk in Downtown Senoia, Georgia lined with trimmed green shrubs and historic red brick storefronts, with parked cars along the street under a clear blue sky. Shop windows and hanging business signs give the small downtown block a tidy, welcoming feel.

Downtown Senoia is small, walkable, and almost too pretty to look real, which makes sense considering how often it ends up on screen. Even after you’ve hit the main spots, there are more local shops, restaurants, antiques, gifts, and filming locations tucked around town.

Here are a few stops I recommend making as you wander around downtown.

For shopping, stop by Country Junction for goat milk soaps, lotions, specialty products, home decor, baby gifts, and more (sometimes they have a baby goat in the shop that you can meet and hold). Greenhouse Mercantile is another good store for curated gifts, home goods, handmade products, local art, Fair Trade items, and other finds that feel more currated than your average gift shop. If you like vintage browsing, head to Foxxhollow Antiques for vintage finds, antiques, and yard art.

There are plenty of restaurants downtown, too. Borgo Italia serves authentic Italian food, wine, and family recipes in a trattoria-style setting. Lisa’s Crêperie & Café is a sweet cafe for French crêpes made from a family recipe that goes back generations. And Nic & Norman’s is a popular family-friendly restaurant with burgers, sidewinder fries, steaks, Southern entrees, flatbreads, salads, brunch, and desserts (and is owned by two The Walking Dead alums).
