The Veranda Historic Inn Review: Historic Senoia B&B

If you want to stay right in the heart of Senoia, The Veranda Historic Inn is the obvious choice. This 1906 Greek Revival mansion is the only hotel in town, and it puts you steps from Main Street, local restaurants, shops, and The Walking Dead filming locations.

The Veranda has the kind of small-town Southern charm that fits Senoia really well: a wrap-around porch, peaceful gardens, antique furniture, and a cozy library nook. It’s a historic bed and breakfast, but the rooms have been updated with modern amenities so you don’t have to sacrifice comfort for your historic stay.

I stayed here during a book-focused weekend in Coweta County and loved how easy it was to settle in, slow down, and walk everywhere I wanted to go in Senoia. Here’s my full review of The Veranda Historic Inn and what you can expect during your stay.

The Veranda Historic Inn Review

The Veranda Historic Inn is a 1906 Greek Revival mansion that served for decades as the Hollberg Hotel. The bed & breakfast continues its legacy of Southern Hospitality with 10 guest rooms, a beautiful garden and wrap-around porch, and a traditional country breakfast included on the weekends.

As Senoia’s only hotel, you can’t beat The Veranda’s location just off the main street of Downtown.

The Guest Rooms

The Veranda Historic Inn has 10 historic guest bedrooms. Each room still has its original features, like Georgia heart pine floors, ornate tin ceilings, elegant light fixtures and chandeliers, and covered fireplaces.

The rooms were last renovated in 2022, so they have all the modern luxuries like free Wi-Fi, smart TVs, air conditioning, and updated bathrooms. The furnishings are antique, but comfortable, to fit the historic aesthetic of the hotel.

All the rooms have a full private bathroom with a shower/tub combo. Room #2 – The Hollberg Room is unique with the Inn’s original clawfoot tub and hand shower. Room #8 – The Margaret Mitchell Room has a soaking tub with a hand shower.

Room configurations range from a Queen bed to two Queen beds to a King bed. Rooms #1 and #2 are located on the first floor, while all others are located on the second floor.

Room #3 – The Magnolia Room

I stayed in Room #3 – The Magnolia Room, located in a quiet corner upstairs just off the library nook and overlooking the side gardens.

This room has a King-sized bed that’s super comfortable, a small but modern bathroom with a tub/shower combination, a large armoire, a mirrored dresser with a chair, a settee, a covered fireplace, and a TV. There were also a box fan and a space heater available, but I felt the AC was doing just fine on its own.

The room was very spacious and peaceful, though the floors did creek a lot when I walked around (luckily, there isn’t a bedroom underneath this room, just the check-in parlor).

There are two windows overlooking the side garden and the street, one with a beautiful stained glass pattern at the top. They let in a lot of light, which is nice during the day, but I definitely needed my trusty eye mask to sleep.

Overall, I enjoyed the room and thought it was the perfect place to stay for exploring Senoia.

The Breakfast

The Veranda serves a traditional country breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., included with all weekend bookings. This breakfast is available exclusively to registered overnight guests.

The Location

That’s means it’s super easy to walk to all of the town’s main attractions, from doing breakfast at the Senoia Farmers’ Market to taking a tour of The Walking Dead filming locations to just shopping on Main Street.

Benefits of Staying at The Veranda Historic Inn in Senoia

There are a lot of reasons to stay at The Veranda Historic Inn. The location is it’s biggest win, in my opinion. Since it’s the only hotel in town, it’s the best option for being able to walk to shops, restaurants, the farmers market, and filming locations without having to drive back and forth.

The inn also has plenty of historic charm. It has exactly the character you want from a historic bed & breakfast, from the Greek Revival exterior and wrap-around porch to the original floors, fireplaces, and antique furnishings.

The rooms are updated without losing their personality, so you get modern comforts while still keeping the historic look in tact.

And it’s such a peaceful place to stay. Between the garden, the porch, the spacious rooms, and the upstairs library nook, The Veranda is a nice place to relax between exploring.

What I Didn’t Love

While I enjoyed my stay at The Veranda Inn, there are a few potential drawbacks I wanted to mention.

It is a historic property, and that comes with a few quirks. In the Magnolia Room, the floors creaked quite a bit when I walked around. It wasn’t a major issue for me, especially since there wasn’t another guest room directly underneath, but light sleepers may notice the sounds that come with staying in an older building.

The blinds and curtains also didn’t do a lot to block out light at night, so if you have difficulty sleeping without complete darkness like me, you’ll want to pack your sleep mask for this stay.

The bathroom in my room was also on the smaller side. It had been nicely updated and worked perfectly well, but it didn’t have the spacious feel of the bedroom itself.

My Experience at The Veranda Historic Inn

Overall, I had a wonderful stay at The Veranda Historic Inn! The hotel was comfortable and the perfect location in Senoia. It was a perfectly charming stay for such a cute small town.

I checked in after dark, past their normal check-in hours. They’d provided me with instructions for unlocking the front door and finding my room. It was a really smooth process.

In the morning, I explored the hotel in earnest. There was the cozy library nook just off my room upstairs, along with other guest rooms upstairs. Downstairs, there are boutique-style shops, the check-in parlor, a living room sitting area, and the dining room for weekend breakfast.

I took a walk around the gardens in the back and sat on the front porch swings enjoying the azaleas and beautiful spring weather. It’s really the perfect Southern stay that fit right into my book-focused weekend in Coweta County.

The check-out process was also really smooth: unlike an Airbnb where you have a laundry list of chores, here you simply leave everything like you would in a hotel and leave your key in the door.

Who Should Stay at The Veranda Historic Inn
