Adorable Bear Webcams To Watch While You’re Stuck at Home
Sometimes you just can’t travel, but you still want to feel like you’re traveling. Or maybe you don’t have any zoos near you with adorable bears that you can watch. Whatever the reason, I’ve gathered all the places to watch bear webcams from all over the world, all from the comfort of your own home.
Many zoos have live webcams that stream 24/7 so we can continue to enjoy the cuteness whenever we want. Bears are my favorite animals, so I’ve done extensive research to find the best bear webcams from all over the world.
Where to Find Adorable Bear Webcams
Grizzly and Brown Bear Webcams
Explore.org – from Katmai National Park and Preserve
The Explore.org Katmai National Park webcam overlooks Naknek River in King Salmon, Alaska. The annual salmon run in the summer attracts brown bears to the river, mostly to an area called Brooks Falls. Until then, you can view highlights of bears caught on camera in the past.
Oakland Zoo
Oakland Zoo is home to two sets of grizzly bear brothers: Rubicon and Kenai, and Tulare and Truckee. The camera faces their favorite spot — the pool. The bears like to swim, play, and spar with each other regularly.
You can donate to the Oakland Zoo here. You can even “adopt” a black bear, grizzly bear, or sun bear here.
Woodland Park Zoo
Live from the Woodland Park Zoo‘s award-winning Northern Trail exhibit come brothers Keema and Denali. If you can’t see them in-frame, the bears are probably fishing for trout in the pool away from the view of the camera.
Woodland Park Zoo estimates that they lost about $4 million in revenue during the pandemic and needs your help by donating here.
ZooMontana
Meet grizzly bears Ozzy and Bruno at ZooMontana in Billings, Montana. You may have to be patient, though, because they love wandering out-of-frame.
You can donate to ZooMontana here.
Panda Bear Webcams
Edinburgh Zoo
You can watch Yang Guang and Tian Tian, the U.K.’s only giant pandas, enjoying their home at the Edinburgh Zoo in Edinburgh, Scotland.
It costs £55,000 every month to feed the animals at the Edinburgh Zoo. Just a £15 donation will pay for bamboo and honey for the pandas. You can also “adopt” a panda bear, sun bear, or polar bear.
Explore.com – from the Wolong Grove Panda Yard
This Explore.com webcam in the Wolong Grove Panda Yard at the Shenshuping Gengda Panda Center in China’s Wolong Valley Nature Reserve has views into 11 different panda yards. That’s a lot of pandas to watch play and get into mischief!
Memphis Zoo
You can see and Ya Ya on the webcams at the Memphis Zoo. There’s an indoor cam and an outdoor cam, so you can catch a glimpse of the bear no matter what habitat she’s exploring.
Donate to the Memphis Zoo here, or donate your backyard bamboo to the pandas.
San Diego Zoo (archived)
Unfortunately, the panda cam at the San Diego Zoo in San Diego, California isn’t a live webcam. Bai Yun and Xiao Liwu went back to China in spring 2019, but the zoo still has archived footage of the pandas from January through April 2019.
San Diego Zoo estimates that the costs to care for its animals and exhibits is about $230 million a year. You can donate to the San Diego Zoo here.
Smithsonian’s National Zoo (archived)
Unfortunately, the panda cam at Smithsonian’s National Zoo in Washington D.C. isn’t a live webcam. Tian Tian, Mei Xiang, and Xiao Qi Ji all went back to China at the end of 2023. But the zoo still has archived footage of the pandas that you can still enjoy.
You can donate to the National Zoo here.
Zoo Atlanta
Is there anything better than watching Zoo Atlanta cubs Ya Lun and Xi Lun play with each other? These cams also feature mom and dad Lun Lun and Yang Yang being less rambunctious. But still as adorable! When I can’t go visit Zoo Atlanta, this is the next best thing.
Zoo Atlanta estimates that it costs $231 to care for one giant panda for a day, or $924 to care for all four pandas. You can donate to Zoo Atlanta here.
Polar Bear Webcams
Alaska Zoo
It’s no surprise that the Alaska Zoo would have a polar bear cam! Cranbeary (I love that name!) has tons of snow and toys to play with while you enjoy her company.
The Alaska Zoo estimates that it costs $6,792 per month to care for a polar bear, not including veterinary care or enrichment. You can “adopt” a black bear, brown bear, or a polar bear here.
Explore.com – various locations
You can watch polar bears live on Explore.org at Wapusk National Park in Canada, at the Ouwehand Zoo in the Netherlands, at the Scandinavian Wildlife Park in Denmark, and in the Arctic in Churchill, Canada.
San Diego Zoo
Do I spend too much time watching the polar bears at the San Diego Zoo nap? I absolutely do, but they’re just so cute! So far, this has been one of my favorite webcams.
San Diego Zoo estimates that the costs to care for its animals and exhibits is about $230 million a year. You can donate to the San Diego Zoo here.
Black Bear Webcams
North American Bear Center
The North American Bear Center is an educational center with a focus on the North American Black Bear with multiple webcams where you can watch their resident bears. You can see the bears on the Pond Cam; you can watch the Mound Cam; and you can see Lucky and Tasha on their shared cam.
You can donate to the North American Bear Center here.
Oakland Zoo
At the Oakland Zoo, you can meet black bears Cambria, Kern, and Tejon. They like to play in their 52,000 square foot habitat, which you can watch a portion of in their webcam. You can even get a close-up pool view.
Donate to the Oakland Zoo here. You can even “adopt” a black bear, grizzly bear, or sun bear here.
Sun Bear Webcams
Oakland Zoo
The Oakland Zoo is one of the few zoos that has a webcam for sun bears. Watch bears Pagi and Bulan solve puzzles and eat avocados.
You can donate to the Oakland Zoo here. You can even “adopt” a black bear, grizzly bear, or sun bear here.
I hope you enjoy these bear cams as much as I do! If you ever start feeling anxious or upset, just log off social media, put on one of these webcams in the background, and enjoy!
