Stonehurst Place is one of Atlanta’s top sustainable hotels. This eco-friendly bed and breakfast features eight unique rooms and suites in the cozy interior of a 1896 mansion that manages to stay modern as well as keep it’s period feel.
This hotel underwent an eco-friendly transformation in 2008 and won the prestigious EarthCraft Home and Southface 2008 Renovation Project of the Year. A few of the property’s sustainable efforts include: ten solar thermal panels that heat hot water; in-room recycling; a private potable rainwater system; and a greywater recycling system to conserve water for irrigation of the property’s lush gardens.
Ellis Hotel
Downtown, Atlanta
The Ellis Hotel is a chic, eco-friendly boutique hotel located in Downtown Atlanta within walking distance from some of Atlanta’s best attractions. A top Atlanta hotel, the Ellis has been recognized as a Silver Level National Green Seal Property and won the Division 1 Outstanding Good Earthkeeping Award from the Georgia Hotel & Lodging Association.

InterContinental Buckhead

In addition to being a landmark of Southern luxury, InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta was the first hotel in the Americas to eliminate the use of trans-fats from food production, promoting healthy eating along with their many varied green efforts. Their pool is saline-based, rather than using harsh chemicals. The hotel’s “Green Choice Program” allows guests to defer housekeeping service during their stay to gain loyalty points. The hotel also uses compact fluorescent and LED lighting, as well as recycled and stored rain water in their decorative fountains.
The hallmark of the hotel’s sustainability efforts are their “Green Sleeping Rooms”. These rooms implement a number of eco-friendly practices, including: using bulk size amenities, saving an estimated 350,000 plastic bottles per year; installing water-saving showerheads, toilet fill valves, and restroom faucets; using eco-friendly, non-abrasive detergent for linens and towels; and installing temperature and lighting control systems that power down the room temperature when unoccupied.
Hyatt Recency Atlanta

The Hyatt Regency Atlanta is an iconic hotel in Downtown with its identifiable 22-story atrium. This hotel’s eco-friendly practices have earned the property TripAdvisor’s GreenLeaders Platinum Level and a slew of environmental awards.
The hotel has been recognized for its recycling programs, ventilation systems, Energy Star appliances, and low chemical gardening. In 2012, the Hyatt Regency Atlanta underwent a $65 million transformation that included upgrades to its electrical, HVAC, and other systems to make them more energy efficient. The hotel also combats waste by installing check-in kiosks so less paper is produced at the front desk; purchasing food and other supplies in bulk to reduce packaging; and no longer delivering newspaper to every guestroom.
Emory Conference Center Hotel

The Emory Conference Center Hotel makes greener choices every day — from serving only rainforest-friendly coffee to reducing their water consumption. During a recent renovation, the hotel even replaced every tree removed with two trees and recycled half of its total construction waste.
Their day-to-day eco-friendly initiatives include: converting kitchen waste oils to a bio-diesel fuel used to power Emory University buses; using a centralized recycling system; using only environmentally friendly cleaning supplies and energy-efficient appliances; composting food waste; providing complimentary electric vehicle-charging stations; and participating in Clean the World’s soap recycling program.
