Epicurean Atlanta Review: A Foodie Hotel in Midtown Atlanta

Epicurean Atlanta is a culinary-inspired hotel in Midtown that’s perfect for those with a refined palate. Check out my review of our stay at the Epicurean Atlanta hotel.

A special thanks to Epicurean Atlanta for hosting our stay at this hotel! As always, all opinions are my own.

Epicurean Atlanta is a unique place to stay in Midtown Atlanta with elevated immersive experiences, chic and modern rooms, three on-site restaurants, and a resort-style rooftop pool.

If you’re a foodie looking for the perfect place to stay in Midtown Atlanta, or are just looking for a hotel experience you can’t get anywhere else in the city, then you’ll love staying at Epicurean Atlanta!

Epicurean Atlanta Review

Part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, Epicurean Atlanta is full of flavor! Here’s everything you need to know about staying at Epicurean Atlanta.

The Guest Room

Epicurean Atlanta Hotel Room, Atlanta, Georgia

Epicurean Atlanta has 178 guest rooms, 22 of which are suites. You have your pick of a classic king, a classic queen, a corner king, a deluxe guest room, a junior suite, a one-bedroom suite, a vice presidential suite, and a presidential suite.

We stayed in a Classic Queen room with a city view. I do love a city view hotel!

The room had two comfy queen beds, a sitting area with a chair and end table, a desk, a flat screen TV, and a pantry area with a stocked mini fridge and snacks to purchase as well as things like a cocktail shaker, wine bottle opener, and an ice bucket.

There were some nice culinary-themed touches throughout the room. They had cute decorative pillows with a knife and fork printed on them. The pictures in the room had food themes. The “artisan pantry” has gourmet snacks and drinks for purchase.

The rooms are also very technology-forward. There was a Google Nest Hub, Chromecast for the TV, and a button by the door so you can signal for Do Not Disturb or maid service.

My favorite part was the black-out shades. I’m so used to hotels saying they have blackout curtains and then the room being bright as daylight, but no, Epicurean Atlanta actually delivers! The shade came down with its edges tucked into the window track, so there wasn’t actually any light coming out the sides, top, or bottom. It was fantastic!

The bathroom had a roomy shower with a rain showerhead. I loved their signature scent for their toiletries, which was a soothing lavender mint.

The Amenities

Epicurean Atlanta Hotel Rooftop Pool, Atlanta, Georgia

Epicurean Atlanta‘s stand-out amenities are its rooftop pool, rooftop bar, and two other on-site restaurants.

Their rooftop pool is resort-style with those in-water chaise lounge chairs (I don’t know why I love these in-water chairs, but I do). They also have climate-controlled cabanas you can rent that come with designated service and even private restrooms. It was rainy all weekend when I visited, so I unfortunately didn’t get to enjoy the pool. I did stick a toe in to feel the temperature, and it felt warmed but probably not heated enough for chilly weather.

The Sky Terrace just off the pool has sweeping views of Atlanta, cozy seating, and fire pits.

The hotel also has a small fitness center with cardio machines, free weights, and space for stretching.

Epicurean Atlanta Hotel Epicurean Theatre, Atlanta, Georgia

One of Epicurean Atlanta’s distinct features is the Epicurean Theatre, an immersive culinary classroom where you can learn, taste, and create. They hold events with award-winning chefs, mixologists, winemakers, and artists who lead you through tastings, presentations, and even fun competitions.

The Restaurants

The Office Bar, Epicurean Atlanta Hotel, Atlanta, Georgia

The restaurants at Epicurean Atlanta are a huge part of the hotel experience.

I love exploring Atlanta’s rooftop bars, and visiting Aerial Kitchen & Bar has been at the top of my list for a while. Unfortunately, it was too rainy on the weekend we visited, and the bar had to close due to weather. I did take a look around, but I’ll have to plan a trip back to actually try it out!

Aerial Kitchen & Bar and Rooftop Pool, Epicurean Atlanta Hotel, Atlanta, Georgia

Aerial Kitchen & Bar is located on the 9th floor Sky Terrace. It’s located by the pool, which is only available to hotel guests, but the bar itself is open to the public. Their menu is Mexican-inspired with items like tacos and tortas. Aerial Kitchen & Bar is open for lunch and dinner.

Reverence, Epicurean Atlanta Hotel, Atlanta, Georgia

Reverence is the restaurant and bar located in the hotel’s lobby. Their menu features seasonal seafood and meats and fresh produce. They have an extensive bar, as well as a wine wall with about 1,200 wine bottles. Reverence is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The Office Bar, Epicurean Atlanta Hotel, Atlanta, Georgia

The Office Bar is located across the entrance from the Epicurean Atlanta hotel, in the lobby of the shared building that houses Google’s offices. This business professional spot turns into an upscale sports bar on the weekend. They have a menu of sharables, sandwiches, oven-roasted pizzas, and an extensive whiskey selection. The Office Bar is open for lunch and dinner.

We ate at The Office Bar when we got rained out of the rooftop bar. I had the Spicy Tuna Poke and Kevin had the Homage to Bern’s Steak House Sandwich with Truffle Fries. For drinks, Kevin had the tropical Working “Remotely” and I had the lemon-lavender Cutting Edge.

The Location

Epicurean Atlanta Hotel, Atlanta, Georgia

Epicurean Atlanta has a great location in Midtown Atlanta. Midtown is very walkable, and there are a ton of great things to do nearby.

We ended up staying during Music Midtown (which we didn’t even realize until we got into Midtown), so I know the hotel has a really good location for that. It was only about a 15 minute walk to Piedmont Park.

You’re also about a 15 minute walk from the High Museum of Art, the Woodruff Arts Center, and the Museum of Design Atlanta.

The Arts Center MARTA Station is only a 6 minute walk away. From there, you have easy access to many more of Atlanta’s major sites!

Benefits of Staying at Epicurean Atlanta

The hotel has an incredible ambiance and a unique culinary theme that’s perfect for foodies visiting Atlanta. What We Didn’t Love

While we had a great stay at Epicurean Atlanta, there were a few drawbacks I wanted to mention.

First, we were a little confused upon walking into the hotel. There isn’t a traditional lobby, instead you’re basically walking into the Reverence restaurant. We felt a little lost and like we’d ended up in the wrong place.

This may be less confusing if you’re checking in earlier, but we came in at supper time with a full and busy restaurant in front of us. It was also more confusing stepping off the elevator from self-parking where you only see the hostess stand for the restaurant and you don’t see the additional computers for the hotel check-in against the back wall, behind which is an open view into the kitchen.

Up in the room, we found a small mini fridge stocked full with beverages for purchase. There was no room for leftovers, plus it seemed like one of those smart mini bars that senses weight change and charges “purchases” to your room, so I didn’t want to mess with it too much. It seems like an odd choice to me for a hotel focused on food to have no room for leftovers!

My final issue, which is an issue I have with a lot of hotels, are the scratchy towels and the single ply toilet paper. Especially considering the nightly price of this hotel, the towels and toilet paper should not be the same budget quality of what I just had at a Holiday Inn a few days before this stay.

Good To Know

  • There is free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel
  • There is both valet parking and self-parking
  • A keycard is required to access the hotel room floors; an express elevator can take you to the 9th floor Sky Terrace level without keycard access
