If you’re planning a fun night out in Huntsville, these top bars are the perfect place to grab a drink with friends!
Best Bars in Huntsville
1. Catacomb 435
Downtown Huntsville’s 1920’s-inspired speakeasy is one of the hottest spots in town. It’s not easy to snag a reservation at Catacomb 435; with very limited seating, this underground spot books up days in advance.
But once you snag the password and open the hidden door, you’re treated to an intimate space with delicious, hand-crafted cocktails that are made exclusively to your tastes. You pick your flavor profile, and the bartender will make a personalized drink just for you.
I recommend starting with a flavor profile you know you’ll like, and then for your second drink getting something that’s completely the opposite! You may be surprised what you get. And if you pick the same flavors twice, you won’t get the same drink twice because the bartender changes it up every time.

2. The Speakeasy at Straight to Ale
If you’re looking for a less intimate speakeasy, there’s always The Speakeasy at Straight to Ale in Campus 805. The entrance is located behind a set of sliding lockers (they’re set in a wooden frame and kind of heavy to move).
Inside is a windowless room (it’s the old middle school band room) with a small stage, tables, booths, and a bar. At the bar, they serve Straight to Ale beer and mixed drinks made with their own Shelta Cavern Spirits.
I recommend getting any of the Straight to Ale classic brews: Monkeynaut IPA, Stout At The Devil, or the Chill Pils Pilsner.
2610 Clinton Ave W, Huntsville, AL 35805
3. Lipz Lounge
If you’re more into wines, craft ciders, and karaoke then head into Lipz Lounge at Straight to Ale, the brewery’s karaoke and cocktail concept that replaced their 3rd Circle Cellars bar.
This karaoke bar is hosted by Remy Neal. You can sing your favorite tunes while sipping on exclusive craft cocktails and craft beers.
I recommend the Sour Straw cocktail (which comes with a sour straw) or The Opuntia.
2610 Clinton Ave W, Huntsville, AL 35805
4. Stella’s Elixir Lounge
Stella’s Elixir Lounge has a swanky indoor bar, a covered patio, and open air, rooftop seating around cozy fire pits. This rooftop bar gives luxury vibes that you can’t get anywhere else in Huntsville.
Grab a semi-private cabana, a spot on a cozy couch, or a seat at the sleek bar and enjoy classic cocktails made with featured elixirs.
I recommend one of their specialty mules like the Caramel Apple Mule or a signature cocktail like the Halle Berry.
127 Holmes Ave NW Ste 202, Huntsville, AL 35801
5. Baker & Able
Named for Huntsville’s famous monkey astronauts, Baker & Able sits on the top floor of the 106 Jefferson hotel. This swanky rooftop bar overlooks Downtown Huntsville with views of the rolling mountains and church steeples.
This bar leans in to Huntsville’s scientific roots with high-class craft cocktails made using beakers and served by bartenders wearing white lab coats.
I recommend going for one of their ever-changing seasonal craft cocktails like their Pomsettia in the winter or the Ghosts Can Be Gingers in the fall.
106 Jefferson St S, Huntsville, AL 35801
6. Pints & Pixels
If you love beer and arcade games, then Pints & Pixels is the place for you. With 40 taps of craft beer and wine, an old-fashioned soda fountain, and more than 40 vintage arcade games, pinball machines, and Skee Ball, Pints & Pixels is a great night out for the grown-up nerd.
You’ll find this fun bar at Campus 805. Expect plenty of space-themed pinball machines and your arcade favorites like Pac-Man and Frogger. It only costs $10 per person for all-day access to play games.
See what’s on tap (they have a pretty good selection of ciders and sours for those of us who don’t like beer), or get a signature cocktail like Luigi’s Liquid Green or Mario’s Power Up.
2500 Clinton Ave W, Huntsville, AL 35805
7. Flight Plan Wine and Tapas
Flight Plan Wine and Tapas is the perfect girls’ night out. Grab a flight of wine and share some tapas at this beautiful spot in Jones Valley.
Each wine flight consists of 4 sample glasses of different wine unified by a common theme to give you the perfect tasting. Their tapas menu includes different charcuterie boards, hot and cold small bites, Naan bread pizzas, and other sharable dishes.
I recommend the SweetSpot flight for sweet wines from around the world, or the Light And Lively for crips wines with apple and citrus aromas and flavors.
2710-A, Carl T Jones Dr SE, Huntsville, AL 35802
8. Phat Sammy’s
Phat Sammy’s is a tiki-themed bar and restaurant in Downtown Huntsville. With their beach décor and tropical cocktails, you’ll forget you’re in North Alabama!
All of their drinks are so creative! They’re served in fun glasses, have punny names, and are a mix of classic cocktails, original creations, and inspired recipes. You can even get a communal cocktail to share between two or more people. They also have daily drink specials and happy hours so you can make the most of their drink selection.
I recommend the Fantastic Voyage, Sammy’s Pet Flamingo, or the Absolutely Not a Painkiller.
104 Jefferson St S, Huntsville, AL 35801
9. Ravenwood Meadery
You’ll find Ravenwood Meadery within the maze that is Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment. North Alabama’s first micro meadery has a small but cozy tasting room that’s decked out with Viking and Nordic vibes.
If you’ve never had mead before, you’re in for a treat! Mead is a wine made from fermented honey. It can be dry, semi-sweet, or sweet, and the flavor can depend on the type of flower the honey came from and if any fruits, spices, and herbs were added to it.
At Ravenwood’s tasting room, they offer flights of their small batch meads, mead cocktails, up to 6oz pours, and growlers you can purchase. What they have available changes, but I really enjoyed their Wild Violet mead and the Strawberry Spritzer cocktail.
