Things to Do on Your Mother-Daughter Weekend in Huntsville

Make this mother-daughter weekend one that you won’t ever forget with these top things to do in Huntsville on your girls’ weekend.

1. Go on a Mural Tour

One of the things my mom and I love doing together is hunting down new murals. Together, we’ve created an amazing mural tour of Huntsville that you can use for your own free self-tour!

Since she lives in Huntsville, she usually has the latest scoop on where a new mural has popped up. Sometimes I know about a new mural before she does. And when I visit, we head out on the town to find the new mural for my blog post and to take some cute selfies!

2. Go Ice Skating

Huntsville Ice Complex, Huntsville, Alabama

When was the last time you went ice skating? Since I’ve taken up figure skating, showing off my new skills to my mom is always a must for our girls’ weekends.

Head over to the Huntsville Ice Sports Center for their public skating time. If you’re visiting Huntsville for a long weekend, I recommend going on a Thursday or Friday during the day. We’ve had great luck at these times getting the ice almost all to ourselves.

If you’re visiting during the winter months, make sure to check out Huntsville’s outdoor ice rink they set up for the season behind the Huntsville Museum of Art.

3. Pick Your Own Tulips in the Spring

Hubert Family Farms Tulips, New Market, Huntsville, Alabama

Nothing says springtime like a field full of gorgeous tulips! Hubert Family Farms out in New Market lets you pick your own tulips in the spring, perfect for getting a fresh bouquet for Mom and some memorable pictures.

The farm charges admission to enter the field and then per stem for each tulip you pick. So you and Mom can just go get some cute selfies if you want without having to pick anything. If you are interested in picking, it’s such a fun experience choosing the right flower and carrying the stems around in the adorable baskets they provide.

During the tulip season, the farm also has fun weekend activities like hot air balloon rides, live entertainment, food trucks, and bunnies included in your admission.

4. Try Out Topgolf

Who says golfing has to be just for dads?

Huntsville’s Topgolf venue is located out at the MidCity District. You and your mom can grab some food, get some drinks, and see who the golf pro of the family is.

My parents have been all into Topgolf since we went in Atlanta for our family Thanksgiving gathering. So Dad did tag along on our girls’ day trip here. But you know what? Mom proved to be the most skilled golfer of us all!

5. Take a Hike

Connect with your mom as well as with mother nature on your mother-daughter weekend in Huntsville by going on a hike.

Huntsville has plenty of unique hiking and walking trails, from the trails behind the U.S. Space & Rocket Center with an old airplane cockpit to the Tennessee River Greenway at Ditto Landing to the many Land Trust of North Alabama trails.

6. Spend a Day Shopping

Huntsville is a great shopping destination! This city has everything from local boutiques to national brands to one-of-a-kind makers markets.

The popular Bridge Street Town Centre combines modern store fronts with European old-world charm and offers a mix of upscale brands and specialty stores. If you and your mom are into art, head to Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment to find eclectic shops ranging from vintage to local artists.

7. Get a Pedicure

My mom and I love to get a pedicure together, especially in the spring at the start of flip-flop season!

Huntsville has plenty of spas and nail salons so you can relax during your mother-daughter weekend. Revive Nails & Massage Therapy, Cirage Nails & Spa, In The Nails, and Terramé Salons and Spas are top-rated nail salons for pedicures in Huntsville.
