A Tour of Southern Ghosts Review
Meet professional storytellers telling the tales of Southern Ghosts along the lantern-lit paths of Stone Mountain Park. Check out my review of A Tour of Southern Ghosts, a family-friendly ghost tour.
I love doing ghost tours all around Atlanta. I’ve already explored Decatur’s dark past, Marietta’s bloodied history, the ghosts of the Fox Theatre, and the secrets of Roswell. But this ghost tour is a little different.
A Tour of Southern Ghosts is a Stone Mountain tradition that is a much more family-friendly tour that brings ghost stories to life through the Southern tradition of storytelling.
A Tour of Southern Ghosts Review
A Tour of Southern Ghosts is an annual storytelling festival presented by ART Station, a non-profit Stone Mountain contemporary arts center.
The tours take place on the lantern-lit paths of the Historic Square at Stone Mountain Park. Each night features a different cast of six storytellers with their own collections of stories. Your group will have a guide that will lead you from on storyteller to the next.
The stories are sometimes a little spooky, but mostly they are funny. Some are heart-wrenching. They’re never too frightening, so they are appropriate for young kids.
The stories come from all over the South, so they’re not ghost stories about Atlanta ghosts or even the historic buildings at Stone Mountain Park. Rather, they’re fun parables that have been passed down through generations.
There aren’t any jump scares, no actors that try to frighten you. You really just go and listen to six stories under the moonlight.
At the beginning of the tour, there is a snack and drink station where you can get something to keep you warm on your walk. There is a bathroom halfway through the tour. At the end, you’ll exit through a gift shop where you can purchase items to benefit ART Station.
