Claude Monet: The Immersive Experience
Your journey begins with a more traditional, museum-like exhibit detailing the life and works of Monet. You’ll read about Monet’s voyages that inspired many of his paintings, from London to Venice to Holland. You’ll also learn about Impressionism and Monet’s failing eyesight that contributed to his unique way of presenting color.
Then you’ll enter Monet’s salon-atelier, his living room studio that has been carefully reconstructed from his house in Giverny, France. All the furnishings are period pieces, recreations of Monet’s paintings hang on the walls, and all around the room you can find little hidden gems and quotes from the artist.
The next room is a beautiful garden setting straight out of Monet’s “The Japanese Footbridge”. A plush green carpet “grass” covers the floor, and three wooden footbridges covered in fake flowers and vines span a projected pond.
Next, it’s time for the main event — the immersive multi-media experience.
Two-story-tall projections of Monet’s artwork illuminate the walls and floors across 15,000 square feet of screens.
Flower petals fall across the room as the scenes change from spring to summer and fall to winter, a train pulls into a Paris station, a mystical wind turns the windmills of Holland, a fog rolls in over London, butterflies flutter across the gardens of Giverny, and koi fish swim under a pond of waterlilies.
Grab a seat on one of the benches, chairs, or plush carpets as you watch the multimedia show dance through Monet’s most famous paintings.
In the next room, you can experience total immersion in a one-of-a-kind Virtual Reality (VR) interactive experience. The VR experience guides you through various settings that inspired Monet’s artworks, adding dimension to each painting. You can look up, down, and all around as you glide through landscape to landscape.
Then, try your hand at coloring your own Monet work of art. Choose from a selection of coloring sheets depicting Monet’s most famous works, add your own artistic flair, and project your artwork onto the wall.
Here, you’ll also find the gift shop and a café / bar space where you can relax and unwind after your experience.
